Autumn Construction Services was awarded the $1.6 million mechanical piping work for the CPS George Washington Carver Elementary School project. Blackhawk HVAC is the prime mechanical contractor. The mechanical work consists of partial demolition of existing mechanical systems and the installation of a new mechanical cooling system.
Autumn’s scope of work includes the demolition of existing piping and equipment, the installation of new air-handling unit cooling systems with rooftop condensing units and associated refrigerant piping, as well as the installation of steam piping, convectors, and mini-split cooling systems
The project started in winter 2024 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2025. Autumn Construction Services looks forward to successfully delivering this project in collaboration with Blackhawk HVAC and Chicago Public Schools.

This project involves a comprehensive renovation encompassing architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The architectural scope includes installation of new fire-rated gypsum wall partitions related to MEP work, complete roof replacement, new exit vestibules and fire doors, select bathroom tile renovations, and patching associated with hydronic systems. The mechanical scope includes installation of new rooftop units, condensers, fan coil units, fan walls, and upgrades to return air and hydronic systems, as well as fire damper installations and select kitchen upgrades (excluding FNS equipment). Electrical work includes a new service and switchgear, lighting and fire alarm upgrades, keyless entry systems at two locations, and new exit signage. Plumbing work includes selective bathroom and kitchen renovations, removal and replacement of storage tanks, new roof toilet vents, and hose bibs.
