Autumn Construction Services was tasked to upgrade mechanical equipment and piping for the Clean Steam Generator Replacement project. Autumn Construction was the single prime contractor. This project is part of a Cook County Job Order Contracting (JOC) mechanical contract awarded to Autumn Construction in May 2023.
The Autumn scope of work includes providing (3) new clean steam generators that provide humidity control and instrument cleaning to the East, Central, and West operating rooms of the hospital. In addition to the clean steam generators, Autumn modified the steam, steam condensate, and deionized water piping to fit the new generators.
During this project, Autumn performed several steam, water, and electrical shutdowns and coordinated with the hospital to ensure the operating rooms remained in continual operation. This project also included new concrete housekeeping pads and integrated the new generators into the hospital’s existing BAS system.
The project procurement phase started in Summer 2024 with installation throughout the fall and winter of 2024-2025. Autumn worked together with the client and other construction trades to make this a successful project for John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
