Autumn Construction Services, Inc. was awarded the mechanical scope for the Arturo Velasquez Westside Technical Institute Damper Replacement for a City Colleges of Chicago Job Order Contract project.

The mechanical work consisted of replacement of existing outside air and return air dampers serving multiple air handling units throughout the facility. This included demolishing and removing existing dampers, installing new damper sleeves, and furnishing and installing new Tamco outside air dampers.

Additional work included replacing return air damper actuators, including new Belimo damper actuators, with associated conduit and wiring tied into the existing Johnson Controls air handling unit control system. Controls have been coordinated with existing building automation infrastructure, with actuator wiring running to the nearest controllers.

All work is being coordinated to minimize disruption to campus operations and will be performed in accordance with City Colleges of Chicago standards and requirements. Complete checkout and commissioning of the new damper actuators were performed to restore reliable damper operation and improve overall air handling unit performance.
