ORD Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 Combined Heat Exchanger System Replacement

LOCATION: O’Hare International Airport – Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 

CONSTRUCTION START: May 2027 

CONSTRUCTION COMPLETION: March 2028 

CONTRACT AMOUNT: $10,647,000.00 

Autumn Construction Services was awarded the prime contract to remove and replace heat exchangers and pumps that provide heating for Terminal 1 (Concourses B & C) and Terminal 3 (Concourses H & K) at O’Hare International Airport.  In total, equipment replacements include (18) high-temperature hot water heat exchangers, (20) hot water pumps, and (12) expansion tanks. Additionally, new system pumps will be provided with variable speed drives, electrical power work, and BAS temperature controls will be upgraded for all new equipment systems.   

Subcontracted work for this project includes demolition, electrical power, BAS controls, miscellaneous concrete, and pipe/equipment insulation.
