PRIME JOC CONTRACTOR: Autumn Construction Services
PROJECT: Division V Laundry Facility - Domestic Water Piping Replacement (Plumbing Work)
LOCATION: 26th Street and California Ave. Chicago, IL
CONSTRUCTION START: December 2025
CONSTRUCTION END: Q2 2026
Autumn Construction Services was awarded a $250,000 plumbing piping domestic water replacement project at the Division 5 laundry facility located at the Department of Corrections Chicago Facility. This project was awarded through Cook County’s countywide, ongoing Mechanical JOC contract with Autumn.
This project presents challenges, as the laundry facility must remain in operation throughout the construction and replacement work.
Autumn’s scope of work includes providing temporary water services to accommodate the demolition and replacement of the existing, deteriorating domestic hot and cold water piping. In total, the project includes more than 1,000 feet of piping replacement, along with testing and insulation to upgrade the facility’s domestic water system. The upgrade will provide greater efficiency and reliability for facility operations.
The project started in December 2025 and is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2026.
PROJECT: Division IX Hot - Water Heating System and Shower Facility Rehabilitation (Plumbing Work)
LOCATION: 26th Street and California Ave. Chicago, IL
CONSTRUCTION START: May 2026
CONSTRUCTION END: December 2026
Autumn Construction Services was awarded (2) related plumbing projects totaling $1.1 million at the Department of Corrections Chicago Division IX. The project was awarded through Cook County’s countywide, ongoing Mechanical JOC contract with Autumn.
This project is phased so that Autumn will isolate and replace the North Tower hot water system while water service is bypassed to the South Tower system. In each tower, (2) new instantaneous high-capacity steam/hot water heaters will be installed, along with new pumping equipment and piping to the showers. Each new shower room will contain 72 multi-shower heads, along with valving and controls, to provide more efficient and reliable hot shower service to jail residents.
Autumn’s scope of work includes providing temporary water service modifications to accommodate the demolition and replacement of existing equipment and piping. The scope also includes testing, insulation, and system controls to upgrade the facility’s domestic water system.
The project will begin in May and be completed by the end of 2026.
